Junk Removal FAQ's
What kinds of items do you accept? We are capable of removing any non-hazardous items that two to four people can lift. This includes construction materials, renovation debris, yard waste, furniture like couches and mattresses, as well as other types of unwanted items such as household and office items, appliances, lumber, concrete, freezers, washers & dryers, old newspapers, computers, televisions, and more. If you have something that needs to be removed that is not on the list, feel free to let us know and we will take care of it.
What kinds of items do you not accept? We are not licensed to remove or haul any hazardous materials.
What happens to the "junk?" Donation and recycling habits are very important at Two Dogs Hauling. We donate and recycle at the following types of establishments: thrift stores and donation centers, metal recycling plants, electronic recycling facilities, yard waste facilities, local community members, etc.
What forms of payment are accepted? We accept checks (these can be written out to Two Dogs Hauling LLC), cash, Venmo, and all major credit cards. When choosing to pay by credit card we do apply a 2.9% fee.
How long will the services take to complete? Our crews work as quickly as possible to remove your unwanted items. Each job will vary based on load size but our team members would be happy to communicate the expected amount of time your job will take to complete.
Why was I provided an arrival window? Our team often experiences many traffic delays, or jobs with unexpected obstacles. At times, the previous job to yours can take much longer than expected. Our crew will text with a 15 - 30 minute notice to provide a more accurate arrival time within the provided arrival window.
How will I know when TDH is on the way? We always send a "we are on the way text" with at least a 15 minute notice. Upon request, we can provide a 30, 45, or 60 minute notice.
How do I estimate my load size? We are always happy to provide an estimate prior to pick up if you would like to send photos in for size reference. These can be sent via e-mail or text message. Our team members will also confirm in person the estimated load size prior to loading up the items on the day of pick up.
How do I decide between your junk removal option vs. your dumpster rental option? Our junk removal option is full service. This means all labor and disposal fees will be included in the costs to you. Our crew members are capable of lifting and moving heavy items from anywhere within the home out to our truck(s). Our dumpster rental options are where we drop off, pick up, and you load the items to be hauled away.
Why is there a charge for this service? Though there are some services that will remove some items for free, they have requirements that the items are in repurposeful condition. This will often leave you with some items that can not be picked up therefore having to contact a service like Two Dogs Hauling. For example, we are able to safely and properly dispose of mattresses or paint that may not be able to be donated or resold. Our labor, disposal fees, and transportation of the junk are just some of our operating costs.
Do I have to be home/on-site? We do ask that you are on-site, if possible. If this is not an option during your scheduled pick up, we ask that you make prior arrangements with us to use one of our contactless payment options.
Do you offer late night pick-ups? Absolutely. Reach out to us any time to make any required special arrangments for your pick up.
What is your service area? We are local to Northern Virginia. We service Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Prince William County, Arlington, Alexandria, Clarke County, parts of West VA (Jefferson and Berkeley County) and parts of MD (Frederick County).
